Atomic Spectra

Short Description In Bohr’s atomic model, electrons rotate around the nucleus in stationary orbits. These orbits are quantized, their energy always remains fixed. And the most important fact is that an electron can jump from one orbit to another.

The idea in this lesson is to compare a person climbing stairs and moving electrons to other levels.

Like us – when we climb stairs, we cannot stay in the middle of a step, the electrons can only take in or release precise amounts of energy in order to get to the next level.
